ATO Scam Warning

The Australian Taxation Office are seeing an increase in the number of email scams currently circulating.

These emails appear as if they have come from the ATO and include a link which recipients are encouraged to click on. In doing so, they are directed to a fake myGov login page in order for the scammer to obtain their secure login details.

Once the scammers have access to your myGov login, they can lodge fraudulent returns in your name and your secure tax file number is compromised.

You should always login to ATO online services through the ATO website, and never by clicking a link in an email or a SMS.
